I am a qualified British Sign Language Interpreter and a member of the National Register of Communication Professionals with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD). I am a full member of the Association of British Sign Language Interpreters (ASLI) and also The National Union of British Sign Language Interpreters (NUBSLI).
I qualified in 2013 and work mostly with community based organisations in the corporate sector, arts and culture, health and social care, higher education and exhibitions/conferences.
My work in the sports and fitness sector includes interpreting for a Birmingham D/deaf cricket team and also West Midlands Jujitsu Club. I also work in religious settings and am a regular Interpreter at Riverside Church in Birmingham. Examples of my work with tours and exhibitions include in-vision guided tours for Birmingham Conservation Trust, The Birmingham Back to Backs (National Trust), and Warwickshire County Cricket Club.
My first degree is in Drama and Theatre Studies (BA Hons), and I have previously performed and toured with Deafinitely Theatre (‘Double Sentence’ 2010), a Deaf led theatre company. I specialise in theatre interpreting and credits include Little Angel’s ‘The Bear’ (MAC Birmingham 2016), ’Double Dickens’ (2017), ’This is Margaret’ (2018) for the Arena Theatre in Wolverhampton, ‘Demonstrating the World’ (Aaron Williamson for Fierce Festival 2017), Billy Liar’ (2019) for the Pomegranate Theatre in Chesterfield and ’The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show’ (MAC Birmingham 2019).
I have also worked for a D/deaf artist on research and development projects with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
I am based in the Midlands but also work further afield.
